I live near the corner of Newark and Force Rd. in Attica. So far I know I of no high speed providers in our area. The phone co. and cable co even have the old lines so nothing here - the closest we get it is a dial up of 53kbps -wo who! I’ve asked when someone’s going to upgrade the lines and I get the run around. Seriously the neighbors (just everyone I talk to out here) and I are DESPERATE for highspeed. I know we can get hughes net but is there any other option out here?

qix has a tower on Lk. George that should cover you if you can get them to return your calls - http://lapeerinternet.com/attica/qix

JJ, I live at newark and summers and cant get crap either but I do use sprintpcs its a little expensive at 60 a month but what are you to do when there is nothing else. you use a novatel 740 i think it plugs into your usb hub and it uses the cell towers so far i love it not as good as cable but you get a decent 1mb download i can watch youtube and other videos with no interuptions and it goes from website to website real quick WAY better than dial up i would compare it to the other providers in the area and yes qix.net sucks they dont answer calls and seem like they dont care about getting business

I am thinking of going with this Mobile broadband from PC Lapeer @ 59.99 a month then I will go buy this new Magic Jack for our telephone service for 19.99 a year…and then get a converter box and do away with Charter and all the people they send you to in India once and for all. I think this should save us a good 70 bucks a month! Any feedback…or horror stories on this plan?

Regions Internet Service recently acquired Fusion High Speed. Coverage areas include Marathon and Deerfield Townships which are located in Lapeer County. http://www.fusionhighspeed.com/

Hello. I live in Lapeer County. Specifically, I live just about 1.5 mile north of the village of Dryden. Can anyone recommend a wireless high speed provider for this area? Thanks.

I live in Metamora and like the rest of you, Charter offers nothing to it’s Lapeer County customers. I’m so tired of dialup I could gak coathangers. I even wrote a letter to the LA View but you get nothing in terms of WHY we still live in the stoneage here. Anyone know why we get no service here? Is it Charters fault or the townships or what?

I also live off Winslow N of Newark and am currently using qix.net. I’ve been using them about 3 months, am currently on my second service outage, and download speeds vary from about 75-90k down to 10-15k, usually getting the poor speeds in the evening. I’ve been down since about 9 pm last night and waiting for a call back from Doug. I just put in requests for info from Air Advantage and BigTube, but am not getting my hopes up. Looks like it may soon be Hughes!

I live in the village of Dryden and I have Charter for my phone and internet. I have no problem with the service, it’s fast and reliable but I think they are expensive. I pay about $105 per month. I think installation 3 years ago may have been about $100.
